The Castle of Coustaussa, located in the Aude department of southern France, is a striking historic site perched on a ridge overlooking the Sals River Valley. Situated in the so-called 'Cathar' country, it stands opposite the famous and mysterious village of Rennes-le-Château. Though it today exists as a dramatic ruin, the site is rich in medieval history, architectural transformations, and local folklore. To find out more, click on the picture to the right.
